Need help on copying to usr

Hi, im still new in Linux, currently im using mandrake 8.0, and i wanted to copy some KDE Splash image files that i've got to /usr/apps/ksplash replacing the old ones. but every time i tried it, a message came up says no permission, or something like that. Can anyone help me please

As an ordinary user you can't copy files to /usr by default, unless you change permissions, which is usually a bad thing to do. Copy them over as root.
