Hi people. i jist installed red hat linux 9 and everything was it said your now safe to rebot your system when a rebot linux does no startup it stops at. This is the first time i have used linux.

verifying dmi pool data ..............
boot from atapi CD-ROM : No Bootable disk in Cd-Rom

can anybody help me.

did you leave one of the CDs in the cdrom drive when you rebooted? if so, remove it and reboot.

sounds like you will have to go into your BIOS and change the bootdevice order.

it shouldnt matter as long as one of the boot devices is your hard disk

i have tried taken the cd out the cd-rom but it never working anything else

sorry.

i tried taking the cd out of the cd drive and reboting and it did not work. Is there anything else i could try?

Change the boot order in the bios to either floppy first and HD second or HD first and floppy second.

i dont have a floopy disk with anything for linux shoud i have one?

Most distros give you the option to create a bootdisk during installation. It could be you need to install with 'expert mode' for this.

There is another thread just posted in another forum a few minutes ago on creating a bootdisk.

Did you change the boot order in the system bios yet?

Hi I have tried my boot order as

CD,Hard Drive,Floppy
CD,Floppy,Hard Drive
Hard Drive,Cd,Floppy
Hard Drive,Floppy, CD


anybody know what else it could be? or if somebody makes a startup disk and send it over email ot somthing will that work?

Look on the Redhat ftp servers for bootdisk images.

You can also boot using your installation cd in rescue mode. Redhat has docs on their site on this.
