i have mandrake 8.0 and everytime i got to harddrake my computer locks up


how do i fix this,and by the way,am new to linux

Please include a few more details for us to help you. What you have included is not enough.

i.e. when does this happen? Always at the same time? What hardware and anything else you can think of...

yes it happens at the same time,it happens when it says,dection in progress,plz wait

Well, I know that when I run HardDrake, my computer slows down almost to a stall. If I try doing anything, it does lock up. So, just let your computer sit there. Depending on your computer's specs, it may take a few minutes. (Not likely, but, I'm throwing that out there, just in case.)

We will have a hard time helping unless you provide us with a little more info (as we already requested).

So could you please tell us about your hardware. If the install is freezing on hardware detection, then I would think with us knowing a little bit about your specs, we might be able to help.

If not, then try another distro or version of Mandrake.

and i have p3 800,with mandrake 8.0,when it says dection progress,plz wait,it goes to a black screen

and locks up
