I use RedHat Linux 7.1, and was attempting to install the latest smpeg plugin for xmms. When I tried to install the plugin for xmms to play mpg videos from source, I kept getting the error stating that XMMS was not installed on my computer when I ran the configure script.
Here is the message:
checking for XMMS - version >= 1.0.0... no
*** The xmms-config script installed by XMMS could not be found.
*** If XMMS was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in
*** your path, or set the XMMS_CONFIG environment variable to the
*** full path to xmms-config.
configure: error: *** XMMS >= 1.0.0 not installed - please install first ***
I checked the PATH variable in my environment and /usr/bin was listed there. I also made sure I had both of the dependencies installed and an up to date version of XMMS. I ran configure again with the prefix argument pointing to the /usr/bin directory (where the xmms bin was). I still got the error. Does anyone know what went wrong, or how to fix this?
