I have MDK 9.1 and MozillaFirebird (a great browser BTW) and I'm trying to get add-blocking working. I followed the directions here:

http://texturizer.net/firebird/adblock.html

but it's not working. No ads are being blocked. Since I am on dialup this feature would really speed things up.

There seem to be a few locations for the chrome profile folders so I put userContent.css in those locations with the text from the above site copied/pasted right into the file.

Thanks in advance for the help,
Ted.

P.S.: I just installed AdBlock from the Mozilla site. It's supposed to put the info in the right spot for you but ad-blocking is still not working.

P.P.S.: I just copied userContent from the MozillaFirebird directory to its proper location in the .phenix directory. AdBlock posted a message that I needed to restart the browser again and now ad blocking is working. Don't know why that worked.

It's should be:

~/.phoenix/something/something/chrome/userContent.css or something like that. :)

It's great not to see any banner ads anymore. :D

Thanks. Some of the instruction I read just said, "Copy this to your userContent.css file." Not very helpful since I found several of them in different places. I didn't even know there was a .phoenix directory until I went to the official Mozilla site and searched for an hour...

It would be nice if people were a little more clear!

:)

Have a great day,
Ted.

It does pay to become familiar with at least what is in your own users home directory.

ls -al (to also list hidden '.' files)

If using a gui desktop, use one of their file managers to look around the filesystem.

Just a little suggestion as that is what I always do. :)

I have been studying the complexities if Linux with a stack of books and a lot of surfing. Sometimes I get so involved little things get passed by. I only have a few weeks until school starts to learn as much as I can so I am trying to get as deep into it as I can. Getting ad-blocking working was just my way of taking a break.

Have a great day,
Ted.
