echolinux ham radio probs

I have installed echolinux and a perl gui for it called echogui.pl I have used this gui and have been able to connect to my local repeater (aknowledged by the connected message on the repeater and the fact that I can hear the repeater through my computer) My problem is that I can not seem to transmit out to the repeater. I have checked and I can in fact make noise with my microphone...not sure what could be causing this and I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

just an idea if anyone knows.....I have my mic running through emu10k (Im pretty sure) and do the level controlling via Gnome Volume control, I was wondering is their anything special I would have to do to make the sound available to the app if I use emu10k?

I haven't seen many posts here on ham radios in the past. Maybe a couple.

Does this program have a configuration option to setup the sound output device?
