I just installed slackware but how do i create usernames because im logged in as root and i typed /usr/bin to see my executables and it said permission denied

As far as the permission thing goes this may sound silly but did you just type "/usr/bin" or did you type "cd /usr/bin" then ls? I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to see something as root. If you are root you should be able to view anything. justlinux.com
