Hi. I just installed mandrake 8.2 since I wanna learn a little bit about lnux. Yes I know this distro is not the latest one but it's ok. Anyway, here's my problem: I have cable internet which works fine on my windows partition but I dont know how to make it work under linux. Consider that Im a noob when it comes to linux. I need something like a tutorial or something. I have a 10mbps 3com etherlink III ISA connected to my cable modem and a d-link 10/100 mbps PCI connected on my home network. When mandrake boots when it comes to the eth0 it shows "FAILED" which I guess it means that it doent see it or something like that.

Please I wanna learn how to use this OS so please give me a hand with this

thanks

OK, I will take a stab at this,
When you setup Linux, did you set an IP adress for your machine? or did you setup DHCP?

Let's start there.

if i understand correctly that you have 2 network cards, i assume eth0 is your internet network card so most DSL ISP's require it set to DHCP so do that in the mandrake control centre.
