quick firewall help

I configured my firewall too well apparently. It's blocking me from being able to play any online games. I can't refresh any servers. And I have yet to find a good firewall tutorial that shows me what the rules mean. The one at linuxdoc really sucks for newbies. It basically just details how to do his, but not what the switches mean and basic buildup of a rule. Anyone that's a firewall expert know what rule I should be looking for?

an easy way to open ports is by running /usr/sbin/setup in redhat at least. It gives you a way to customize your network and open regular ports as well as custom ports.
