Gaim and the Elusive libspell with RH9

I'm sure this one has been met before but I sure can't find it. I've recently installed RH 9 and wanted to upgrade to the latest version of Gaim. However it requires libspell something or other. This requires aspell or pspell wich after downloading the rpm's from the red hat network it tells me they are already installed??? Ok so this is a pckconfig problem maybe? Something isn't looking in the right place I am assuming but what is it that isn't looking and how do I tell it where to look?

Since you're a Red Hat user, I'd suggest you to try Ximian Red-Carpet (http://www.ximian.org/products/redcarpet/) which deals with dependency problems for you.

Is this perhaps a libgtkspell problem (http://gaim.sourceforge.net/faq.php#q2)?
