I just got a used Samsung SCL770 Hi8 video camera from my cousin and I am trying to get Linux to recognize it (seeing as how I tried it on Windows XP and Samsung never bothered to make a USB driver for it). The camera uses a USB uplink to allow for video capture. It also has an A/V out jack. What software do I need to use to get the video camera recognized and what can I use to capture, cut, and edit video?

Something I would like to get one of these days is a DV camera. Someday I will. :(

Have a look through these JL forum search results for 'usb camera' (http://justlinux.com/forum/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=680986&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending) as some of them should tell you what modules/drivers are required and what apps you can use.
