I have just got the storm linux 2000 cd and thinking of installing it, but..

I just heard they have gone bankrupt therefore no updates.

Can I just change my source list to point at say woody/potato after installation and get updates that way?

I'm just wondering if they have changed the debian disto enough to add problems if I did this or have they just added some nice gui stuff on top?

I am only installing it for the storm package manager as I find dselect annoying to use when trying to look through 3000+ packages. Are the packages well organised with the storm package manager to make it easy to use?

Not to doubt your choice, or insult you, but have you read any documentation on dselect?
When I first used it it seemed completely non-understandable, but now I use it regularly and find it usable (barely).
<enter> changes between sections, and you can search for packages by using the '/' key. You can then use '+' and '-' to change the status of the selected package.

I really don't know about the storm/debian compatibility thing, but my gut instinct says yes you should be allowed to point it at debian.org.
I rarely use dselect...the only time I do is when I need a package name. I used "/" to search for a string (such as "helix"), and that will give me the package name "task-helix-gnome". I use apt-get to actually fetch the package as dselect can be frustrating.
Have you tried "aptitude"? It's another frontend to apt, and it takes care of organization much more nicely. I don't use it myself so I can't tell you how it's done, but I've used it once or twice and found it to be very well organized.

Dude, to find package names, just use apt-casche search stuff.
