Ok... so I was downloading a few themes from kde.themes.org for KDE2.

I eventually got Acqua setup and working, but konqueror stopped responding. So I figured I'd restart X and log back in. Well, now whenever I try to log into KDE, it goes through its little initialization splash screen, and leaves me with a grey screen, no k-bar, mouse moves but clicking any of my 3 buttons does nothing. ctrl-alt-backspace takes me back to my login screen.

any ideas? I'd really like to get back into KDE2 and fix whatever I did wrong...

What kind of distro are you using?
Try running XConfigurator...
