I just moved from RH6.2 to RH9. I get my IP with DHCP, and, for years, "pump" has been my buddy. It does not exist on 9. WHAT does it? It's working fine, the install figured it all out, but I can't find, or renew, my lease.
TIA, Ray

dhcpd?

Have a look at your system processes as that should show what is running (dhcp) and the path.

ps ax
or
ps ax | grep dhcp

Then when you do, have a look at the contents of the rpm package as you may find utils for renewing the lease.

rpm -ql <package name>

rpm -ql dhcpd (or whatever)

Ahhh, thank you sir. There's no dhcp anything, but there IS a thingy called dhclient in the process list. It's even got a man page. In fact, several. I haven't puzzled out what I need to know, but, from here, perhaps I can. Thank you. Ray

Ahhhh. Well there you go. ;)

I was actually thinking of dhcp-client or something like that (I use static at home).
