I did a G4L search for 'PixelView Tv Tuner 5446P+', 'tuner 5446P+' and just '5446P+' and did not find anything.

So I just searched for bttv and found this (hopefully) helpful link.

http://www.linux.org/docs/ldp/howto/mini/BTTV-5.html

Ensure you have PnP OS disabled in the bios and then check to see if you have any tv tuner/bttv related modules loaded using

lsmod (list loaded modules)

First, find out if that TV card has a Brooktree chipset, or something else. The majority of them seem to have Brooktree chipsets. lspci should tell you this (or cat /proc/pci).

If you do, then look at mdwatts' link for BTTV stuff.

If you don't, then post what chipset it uses, and maybe there are drivers for it. But maybe not...

an easy way to check is to fire up knoppix, it seems to have quite a bit of support for tv tuner cards, and will configure it and you will have xawtv right there to test it
