Will a celeron work in a P4 board?

Depends if it's a P4 Celeron, I run a P4 celeron in a P4 board, 400FSB 1.7GHz over clocked to 2.04GHz, the whole size and pin-out on the P4 is different and incompatible with the P3

It will fit in a P4 slot. It has 478 pins. But I want to know if it will run in it.

Nope it's exactly the same with half the L2 cache, 128k as opposed to 256K on the full P4, or 512K on the 800FSB P4s. I will be quite simply changing to a P4 2.4 once the prices drop to under £100, this Christmas me's thinks:D

How high do you think the speed will get up to before we discover a new technology or are satisfied? Because the new ones run pretty hot. :D

This could well get moved, but those new opteron 64bit 32 bit side by side applications ability is definitely it, more bits and FSB rather than out and out clock speed, in my opinion.

Wouldn't that be slow? Because if you had a 32 bit app and a 64 bit app open at the same time, it would have to process them one at a time.
