Ok, I know there is loads of posts about it. But I cant find one that explains my exact predicament and explains it in "i'm an idiot" terms. So here goes

System 1, Server
Win2k Pro
Has the cable modem going in, and is then connected to the hub with a connection sharing the internet on ip 192.168.0.1
Runs 2 hd that I want to be able to gain access to from linux.

System 2, client
Win98
is connected to the network for the internet.
Shares its HD with the network.

System 3, me
Linux redhat 7.2
I have compiled and installed Samba 2.2.2 using the method in the NFO, but then that switches to making the this maching the server. The internet is working fine at the moment.

I have access to the win2k machine through VNC only, and i can get to the win98 one.

Now I have been looking around for something siple to explain whats going on where but I cant find one. I have been using linux for all of 1 and a half days so it need to be really simple. If anyone wants to help i'll be back tommorow around 7(GMT) in the morning.

woohoo, i mounted the drives at last. On the linux machine, that will do for now.
