Can somebody please help me.I have sound for audio cd's and it works great. But when i installed real player all when trying to listen to music i got was an inaudible no full of background interference and crackling but i can hear music or whatever is being broadcast sligthly in the background.Even when i open up realplayer the welcome to realplayer voice sounds the same.I know it's not a fault with realplayer because i get exactly the same thing when i dial out on my modem and the line is busy the operaters voice sounds exactly the same.Any help would be gratefully recieved.

*is confused*
You can play audio cd's no problem but all other sound is awful?
1) the audio connection to play cds is Directly connected to the sound card and is independent of any audio software you install. The audio software can only control the volume.
2) what sound card do you have and which driver do you have installed.
3) which (other than realplayer) audio software have you used?
My sound card is a(via technologies inc vt82c686 apollo super ac 97/audio)which was recognised by hardrake so i didn't install any drivers for it.But when i first installed mandrake i couldn't get any sound at all and sndconfig recognised the card but said it wasn't supported.Don't ask me what i did but some how i got audio sound from the cd-rom through the speakers.I don't play games so i haven't tried any other audio software and i don't play games so i wouldn't know what any other audio sortware is like.HOPE THIS HELPS .P.S THANX FOR REPLY.
