First I'll state that I have a ProSavageDDR K4M266 with a Compaq Color Serious 7500 Monitor and I'm doing a dual boot with Redhat 9 and Windows Xp.

My resolution on xp works fine with any settings that i set it to, but when i change my resolution higher than 640x480 on Redhat i get an error saying Out of Frenqency. Anyone know how to fix this or know a reference I can go to?

Sounds like your monitor didn't get setup properly.
Run the command: redhat-config-xfree86 to open a GUI tool for configuring the monitor. Select the Advanced tab / Configure... and then the Probe Monitor button.
You may notice the values in the horizontal and vertical areas change.
In the Display section, you can try different resolutions also.

You can also try http://www.xfree86.org/~dawes/4.3.0/ as you may find info specific to the ProSavageDDR.

Who makes the ProSavageDDR?

Try searching www.google.com/linux for

'ProSavageDDR'

and

'ProSavageDDR xf86config'

to see if you can find some configuration suggestions or examples.

That was crossposting (review the JL Community Help Posting Guidelines) so I've merged the original thread into this one.

Tried ProsavageDDR (http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=ProSavageDDR&btnG=Google+Search)?

So who makes it?

Howdy.

<rant>
I did some checking, and accidentally clicked on the Dell ad to the right of the compose screen, and it erased all my previously typed info. Can we PLEASE put the ad crap somewhere else besides the compose screen?

Your Pro Savage DDR is an S3, as any card with "Savage" in the title is S3-based. If you go to VIA, even they'll tell you that it's an S3 integrated onto the Northbridge chipset.
Personally, I'd get rid of the stupid thing. After spending many weeks fighting my S3 (Number9 SR9) card, I gave up and bought a real card, the nVidia GF2MX400. If you have an open AGP slot, I'd strongly suggest using it and disabling the S3. CNET even did a review of the chipset, and it scored a 14.2 (S3) versus a 54.4 (GF2) on the 3D benchmark (bigger is better). Anyway...

Looking over at https://www.redhat.com/archives/enigma-list/2002-November/msg00123.html , we find that there is a solution.

Essentially, it's a matter of getting the XFree to handle the S3 DDR shared memory chip.

Hope this helps...
