Is there another good open source web browser other than Mozilla?
I don't want to have to download KDE or GNOME either.
Mozilla just seems to run so slowly.

Opera... it's not open-sourced though, but it works pretty well.

I already new about Opera. I use the under windows. But under Linux I only use free software.

Well, there is Skipstone (http://www.muhri.net/skipstone). I can't say I was too impressed with it the last time I tried it, but its still under development.

A search of freshmeat (http://freshmeat.net/browse/775/) turns up several. I've heard Mosaic is okay, but I've never tried it. I messed around with Amaya a little. It's okay, but it doesn't seem to have much in the way of features. I can't tell you anything about the others. Apart from Mozilla (which is too slow), Galeon (which always crashes on me for some reason), Nautilus, and Konqueror, I don't know of any feature rich open-source web browsers.

What "mozilla" version are you using? (or computer type)
Mozilla is no speed demon, of course, but the nightlies, as well as the newer releases, aren't "slow" by any appreciable measure...

Well I just went from 0.9.4 to 0.9.5 and it seems to be just a little bit faster.

Opera is free under Linux, it's just not open-sourced. No big deal, it's their software and they can license it any way they want... and they're not charging for it so I could care less. It's also a pretty good browser. I'd check it out, but make sure you get the 5.05 preview version instead of 5.0, because it has better support for plugins like flash and java.

If you have GNOME, I would strongly recommend Galeon. It uses the Mozilla plug-in so it displays HTML exactly the same as Mozilla does, but it is a lot less bloated. Has all the features you need (e.g. cookie blocking) without unneccessaries.

netscape 4.78 for linux.
it may be ugly, but hey, it works...unlike certain other web browsers that still can't view plugins.
I just noticed that it doesn't really like animated gifs, but oh well... when mozilla reaches the 1.0 point, I'll use it. Right now, it's just plain ugly.
And has anyone else had issues with Opera puking when the cache directory gets more than 3.5k files in it? (as in number of files, not filesize)
