I've looked around and found a few different walk-throughs for installing a soundcard in Debian, but I'm still not getting it to work.

I've been using the following link: Here (http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/template.php3?company=Creative+Labs&card=Soundblaster+Audigy+Gamer&chip=Audigy&module=emu10k1)

and am down to the line
modprobe snd-emu10k1;modprobe snd-pcm-oss;modprobe snd-mixer-oss;modprobe snd-seq-oss

whenever I try to modprobe snd-emu10k1 it gives the following error

/lib/modules/2.4.18-bf2.4/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters
/lib/modules/2.4.18-bf2.4/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.18-bf2.4/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.18-bf2.4/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o: insmod emu10k1 failed

Any help would be appreciated

That usually indicates you have a resource conflict (irq & i/o).

If you have the option in the bios to disable PnP OS, do so.

Have you tried using the standard kernel module for the SBLive?

modprobe emu10k1

You can also search the JL forums for 'sblive' and/or 'emu10k1' as you'll find plenty of other threads on the subject.

Well I disabled PnP OS, but stil doesn't seem to work. It's not an SBLive card, but actually an Audigy card. I'm not sure if that matters or not since I'm still using the emu10k1 driver.

All I know about the SBLive and Audigy is what I've read in the JL forums. Try searching for 'audigy' as it is a popular subject here. You may even find a tutorial in the 'How I did it' forum.

It could be you need to install the Audigy drivers from http://opensource.creative.com/

the kernel OSS modules don't support the Audigy.

you have to use ALSA.

Or the audigy drivers from the link I posted?

you can download your own drivers, yes or install ALSA + emu10k1, but the ones that are in the kernel only do up to a SBLive.
