According to the website you now have to download the iso files for a harddrive install. I downloaded both Enigma disc 1 + 2 and put them in a folder named "linux" on my C drive. After booting with the floppy it asked if i want to install from cd or hd, i choose hd, then i choose hda1 (windows partition) then it ask fot the directory and i type linux, then it says it can't find the RedHat installation tree.
What's going on ?

The iso files are used if you are going to install from cd, they are files that you burn to a cd. When it talks about RedHat installation tree, it means the whole RedHat ftp directory, like the actual directory itself. That is what you need for hard drive install, iso for cd install, floppy and network card for ftp install.
Edit: Hmmm wait, are you sure it said you needed the iso files for a hard drive install?

im no pro, but take those .iso images and use a cd burning program and choose " burn image". it will take two cd's. adaptec or nero is just fine.
then boot with the 1st cd and you can go from there.

Well, if i had a cd burner i wouldn't need to install from the harddrive....
And yes, it says that you need the ISO images now to install from harddrive...

3. Download the files you need.
To install Red Hat Linux 7.2, you will need to download the two ISO images of the installation CD-ROMs, even if you are planning to install only using your hard drive. Using a CD-ROM burner, you can also transfer each of these ISO images to a blank CD-R.
If your machine can not boot from a CD-ROM drive then you will need to create a boot floppy after downloading and burning the ISO images onto CD-Rs. You can find the appropriate boot floppy image in the images directory on the first installation CD-ROM. You may also download the appropriate disk image separately from the ISO files on the FTP site. Follow these instructions to choose the correct boot image for your situation.
From the REdHat website....

Hmmm, weird. well actually I do remember seeing somewhere that you can install from iso's on a hard drive but I don't remember how to do it. Do you have a fast connection (DSL,Cable,etc..)? If so, how about doing an install over ftp?

I think you can burn ISO images to your hard drive. That's why you need to do. If you look at a CD after you burn it, it doesn't say Enigma-1.iso. It's converted it to folders and files.

Anyone knows how to do a harddrive install ?
I downloaded the "base" "RPMS" "Enigmadisc1.iso" "Enigmadisc2.iso" but i can't get it to work yet...

Did you create the linux folder in the root directory of the c: drive? If so, then try entering /linux to tell linux which folder the iso images are in.

Nope, it keeps saying it can't find a RedHat installation tree.....
I don't think you can do a hard drive install with the .isos.
I don't think the installation software of Redhat will explode those isos automagically.
I think you should burn the isos on your hd (with isobuster or something like that)
than you will have a dir c:\linux with the directory tree of a Redhat install (with dirs like RedHat, images, boot, dosutils)
Then you install and give the /linux directory to the install program.

I just installed Red Hat 7.2 from my hard drive. Unlike other posts, i know for a fact all you have to have are the 2 enigma isos. I suggest you try putting them into just the C: directory, not any folders. That will get rid of some of the frustration. Then on install, just point the program to hda1 and you are good to go. It's very simple, i hope it goes easy for you.

Aalbert why dont you search for a windows program called isobuster,it will expand those iso's for you.downside is you will need about 1.5G of free space.

dud, you can install from iso's. Check this page (http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-7.2-Manual/install-guide/s1-install-disk-image.html) out.
Maybe \linux might work.

I downloaded a program called Undisker and "burned" the ISO's to my harddrive but it still says the same thing.
I might try to just put the two iso's on the C drive and see what it does..

Well Pitt, i don't know why it worked for you and won't do it for me. I tried everything now, put the enigma isos on the c drive like you suggested and then point to /dev/hda1 but it keeps saying the same thing "/dev/hda1 doesn't seem to have a redhat installation tree"
I tried just to point to the base and rpms folder but the same thing...
What's going on ?

Wait a second, is there a special boot floppy you need to be able to install from iso on the hard drive? I know you need a special floppy for a CD or FTP installation. I'm talking about a special floppy other than the harddisk boot floppy?
Anyone know
