Ok heres the deal... Heres an outline...

PC
-30.7 GB MAXTOR
----Win98se (full 30.7)
-30.7 GB WESTDIG
----Win2kpro (only 8.0 GB partition)

i want to have this config...

PC
-30.7 GB MAXTOR
----Win98se
-30.7 GB WESTDIG
----Win2kpro (15.0 GB)
----Linuxswap (2.47 GB)
----Linux (everything left)

Okay, now the problem... I tried partitioning with Partition magic, it doesnt work with windows 2k according to microsoft tech support, even through version 6 claims to work. So... what do i do now? microsoft tech supp. said that i could use win2k drive manager to create new partitions and add space to the win2k partition.. but i cant figure out how to do that... any ideas folks?

thanks and peece to all my geeks! ;)

You really don't need a 2.5Gb swap partition for linux, 256mb is all you would ever need and would be probably overkill at that.

I don't know if you would be able to do it with linux fdisk. I don't know what other package you could use since you want to resize your w2k partition.

The swap should be double your memory to a max of 128MB. Use the disk manager in W2K for the W2k partitions and leave the rest blank. Once Win98 and W2K are installed then install Linux but make sure you are using a new version as older versions have trouble if the boot partition is less than 1024 cylinders. Also there is a problem with very large disks unless you are using a linux kernel version greater than 2.2.14.

Have fun! ;)

You want to know how to use the Microsoft W2K disk manager? No idea. Have you tried at MS or does it come with any documentation?

Have you applied all the patches to PM6? Could be the problem it doesn't work with W2K. I would suggest you read up some more at PowerQuest. It should work to resize the NTFS partition from 8GB to 15GB. Or you could just leave it as is and create the Linux partitions right after the 8GB.
