Pan newsreader - can I reset current header to most recent msg?

I've just got Pan running on my brain-transplanted Walmart special computer and I'm using a slow dial-up modem. So I've got some newsgroups that I want to browse but they've got like 200k messages available and Pan wants to read in all those headers first! That'll take over three hours for some of these newsgroups.

Is there a way (like in Xnews) to reset the "current header" count to the latest message? The Pan online help web site is no help at all.
