hi
ive currently got gnome running from the default RH8 installation, but now i wanna try to use kde aswell. i wanna keep both so i can select which one to boot into, do i just install kde as any normal program? "apt-get install kde"
is there anything i should consider b4 installing? also do i have to setup all the user details again i.e add user, password etc or does it use the same details as gnome?

sorry for all the question but i wanna make sure i do it right :)

thanks

If KDE is not already installed? Could you restart the installation (boot from cd), select expert, select upgrade and then select the KDE packages?

RH8 has a package manager in the panel of gnome if you look. Go in there and click all of the KDE packages you want. Then insert the cd and your good to go.

To select which window manager to use change the xinitrc link in /etc/X11/xinit.

He was asking how to install kde not open it... [not trying to be sarcastic, just didn't want him to think that changing the script would install KDE]

You still need a way to select KDE during the runlevel 5 boot process.
