Okay, I have another query. In Netscape 4.75, everytime I click on a link to a multimedia file (let's say a realplayer extension: *.ram), RealPlayer is launched, but nothing else happens. I'm guessing that my browser is not configured properly - launching Real Player only, rather that launching Real Player and playing the file.
Any suggestions?

(1) make sure you can play regular audio files (e.g. wav files) to confirm that the modules are loaded for your soundcard.
(2) For RealPlayer 5, I had to go into Netscape: Edit, Preferences, Navigator, Applications, RealAudio and enter the line
/usr/bin/rvplayer %s
for the application to run *.ra and *.ram files.
For RealPlayer 8, the entry was
/usr/lib/RealPlayer/realplay "%u"
All of this information is from searching for *play* , to find the documentation which describes these switches. You'll have to confirm the location of these rvplayer or realplay files with your installation.
