Ok,
After checking out the subjects I can't really tell where this will fit in so I'll try the random group. I've got several problems but to focus on one in partiicular I'll start with the logging in. I recentlyupgraded to 9.1 and now I no longer see the option to log in as root? Where did they hide it at or has my install gone awry? Muchly appreciated all helpers.

you shouldn't ever log into an X session as root so it is good if they have disabled it however, it is possible to configure xdm, kdm, and gdm to allow root logins.
if you need to do something as root, you should use su or sudo when logged in as a normal user. there is never a reason to log into X as root.

Login as root and come back to this page.
With a Konqueror FIle Browser, browse to the moz-plugins directory of this CD.
Ok as you can see above this is instruction for installing plugins. previously I had done exactly as instructed and had no problems. su I understand is done from a terminal which I am not very familiar with. What is sudo?

You can add root login by going to KDE control center-system-log in manager-users.
