Well... my slackware 9 is with init 4 in /etc/inittab
so it starts with X automatically, but... I want it to start X with -noserver option, so it won't open the tcp port 6000 on listen state, and also... I made a symlink on ~/Desktop/ (I'm using GNOME), but it doesn't appears on my desktop! Is it about the .directory file? If it is... please teach me to use it...
Thank you

No server = no X

Isn't that -nolisten (http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&lr=lang_en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=x+nolisten)?

~/Desktop is the kde desktop.

The gnome desktop is ~/.gnome-desktop
