Anyone else having the same problem? Red Lotus 09-12-2001, 10:26 PM This seems like the sort of problem you'd have with your internet connection. With 28.8k, searching the boards can take a while (downloading the cgi script, etc.), and if it takes too long and not enough data is being sent, then your internet connection might kill the process, thinking that the download will never occur. Just my $0.02, although I have no way to help you. :o You should try again at a later date. Craig McPherson 09-13-2001, 12:08 AM The UBB's search feature really stinks, and can time out on slow connections. If you only search one forum at a time, you might have better results. error27 09-13-2001, 12:30 AM UBB's search feature is a valuable lesson in why people shouldn't code if they are high. Antonis 09-13-2001, 12:40 AM I have a cable modem connection actually. I have also been trying to search from windows and still the same problem. I have tried numerous times to search the board at totally different hours of the day but always get the same error. Craig McPherson 09-13-2001, 12:51 AM It's timing out for me now too. It comes and goes... Malakin 09-13-2001, 09:24 AM It has nothing to do with your net connection. The client sends the request and waits either for the server to respond or for it to hit it's time out limit. If you're using Konqueror you can increase the time out. Kmenu->Configuration->KDE->Network->Preferences The one you want to increase is "server response" Craig McPherson 09-13-2001, 10:28 AM Last I knew, the UBB still had to be manually reindexed from time to time. That may have changed; it might be automated now, but if reindexing still has to be redone manually, I wouldn't bet that it's been being done. It might also help if the mods would do another pruning of old messages. justlinux.com
