Hi I recently installed Mandrake 7.2 and found lilo doesn't load quite right and I am shut ouut of my system. The mandrake installer didn't create a boot disk so I was sol!

Then I tried to install Red hat7 which did make a boot disk, and yes I still have the problem with lilo.

What I was wondering is this, if I were to reinstall Mandrake can I use the boot disk that red hat made? or are the boot disks distro dependant?

I am having problems with my Red Hat install and wouldn't mind going back and trying Mandrake.

TIA

I'm not sure about that, but I'm pretty sure that when I installed Mandrake 7.2 (from CD), it gave me an option to make a boot disk, which I accepted. So if you were to go back to installing Mandrake, you would probably be able to make a boot disk during the install process.

I did the Mandrake install twice and was never prompted for the boot disk. It shows it at the side as something it is supposed to do and then just skips that step.

BTW did you do a custom install that could be why. I did the express install or what ever it is called. Maybe I'll try installing in custom mode!
