I currently have a dual boot setup of RH 9 and XP Pro. How do I (if its practical and/ or advisable) to add other Linux distros to this configuration? Would I need to create separate partitions for the other distros? My Linux partitions are currently: / (root), /boot and swap which together add up to just under 10 Gigs. XP occupies about 23Gigs in an NTFS partition and there is a 7 Gig FAT32 partion for sharing stuff between the two OS's.

I have only been using Linux for just over a month and have been reading plenty of good things about the various distros. RH 9 is pretty impressive but I would not mind trying some of the others. (P.S. I tried Mandrake 9.1 (looks and works great) before RH9 but it freezes the system upon shutdown).

Any assistance would be most welcomed.

You would need to free up space for at least one more partition. That would be '/' root for the new distro. Multiple distros can share the swap partition.

Install the new distro, select to install it's bootloader into it's own root '/' partition and then add a entry to Redhat's bootloader config in /boot to allow booting the new distro.
