TIA raid517 06-27-2003, 02:03 AM It no worky... sorry... Q mdwatts 06-27-2003, 02:38 AM Tried searching first? 'How I did it' forum search results for 'kazaa lite' (http://justlinux.com/forum/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=650708&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending). Search first... ask second. :) dreamlesstime 06-27-2003, 03:18 AM well, if i were you i'd use xmule(lmule) or gtk-gnutella. these r 2 good peer to peer file sharing program on linux, no need to install wine.... easier and more reliable... i gues.s.. raid517 06-27-2003, 09:09 AM To clarify, I have tried 50 different ways to get Kazza to work in wine - and in doing so i have tried every flavour of wine there was, with at best extremely mixed sucess. At the end of the day I decided the results just weren't worth bothering with, so I moved on to XMULE and forgot about it. Now Newsbin Pro in wine is quite another issue. Not peer to peer, but rock solid and brutally fast. I always find peer to peer is way behind the curve of what's available anyway. But that's just me I guess. Q Hayl 06-27-2003, 09:12 AM getting Kazaa to run under Wine is now a complete waste of time. You can now use the Kazaa network (FastTrack) from giFT, eliminating yet another Windoze app. speaks_1337 06-27-2003, 10:52 PM well i have to say the only good advice that i got in return was "Search First ask second". But before i get into how i did it, i just want to let u know that i have used gtk-gnutella and all the others but they simply do not comapare to kazaa IMHO. After doing alittle bit of searching i finally came across a howto in the "How i did it" section, it gave me a start point to where i should start fiddling with the program and wine and my DLL's. Because i have made changes to the kernal and am able to mount NTFS paritions i had quick access to the DLLs that i needed. but alast i couldn't get it to work, so i went to kazaa lites website and looked at older downloads, to see if maybe i could get those to work. While i was browsing their site i even came to a complete HOWTO on how to get it working!!! http://doa2.host.sk/linux.htm it even has wget links to get all the neccessary DLL's. I hope the next person who want to get wine is able to find this, or it helps all u others that got frustrated and gave up. sclebo05 06-27-2003, 11:22 PM maybe you should wait until this whole mp3/file sharing lawsuit thing blows over. just an idea. sharth 06-27-2003, 11:55 PM http://www.brad-x.com/unix/kazaa-FreeBSD.phtml emus 06-28-2003, 12:23 AM I haven't had much success with the following method, the main window starts up, then crashes. http://www.christian-gerner.de/computer/linux/kazaa.htm#v2 mdwatts 06-28-2003, 07:47 AM Originally posted by speaks_1337 well i have to say the only good advice that i got in return was "Search First ask second". Isn't that the one in the link I already posted earlier for the Kazaa lite howto in the 'How I did it' forum? justlinux.com
