I have not used Linux at all....I really want to learn how to use Linux. What version should I start with (Mandrake, RedHat, etc.) ?

I have a Pentium 100Mhz 2G HDD to use as a practice machine.

This NHF will hopefully lead you to the right distro, Good Luck!

do you have any command line (CLI) (text only) experience? like DOS or Unix?

a pc with those hardware specs will not run the GUI (graphic user interface, X windows) very well especially if you don't have much RAM (you didn't say how much you have)

you might consider setting up that pc as a "server" using CLI only. all of the various distributions can be setup this way, just pay attention during the install, to make sure you select server/text/CLI etc

good luck! :)

I recommend Mandrake for first-timersİ It gives you graphical apps for you to use for configuration as well as doing a lot of the install-time config for you, including auto-detecting and setting up hardware for youİ And if you update, HardDrake is a lifesaver in terms of updating your hardware configurationsİ GL to yaİ :D
