i'm gentoo-ing an install and i want to set up the track pad as my mouse device for X but i dont know what device to enter for it

It's either one of two things:

/dev/adbmouse

-or-

/dev/psaux

The only reason I mention /dev/psaux is because I know that you configure X using the PS/2 protocol, even though it's a Mac mouse. When I have more info on this, I'll post more...

i tried both with no success. i got the X screen to come up by making the mouse /dev/null (not useful but at least i now know that the rest of the X works)


am i possibly missing something from the kernel?

come to think of it the Gentoo install guide says to disable adbkeycodes or something...:confused:

No problem. Just for future reference, asking the question in the forum benefits everybody, not just yourself.

I'll have to look into that. I've got a Power Mac 8600 running Debian that has X configured. I'll check what the device on it is this evening...
