gnome/esd

i'm kinda new to gnome.....i want to use the esd sound server but i want it to start as "esd -as 3 -nobeeps" so that other, non-esd progs can use the sound card when gnome is not. so, i keep having to kill esd and restart it the way i want it whenever i log in.....anyone know how to make this stick? i looked in the session properties but esd doesn't show up there.

i think i'm about to replace esd with a script that will call it with the right params if no one else has any ideas...
