Again there are several.
Opera?
Netscape?
Mozilla?
Konqueror?
Lynx?

Did I miss any?
Which one do you use most often?

I'm downloading KDE 2.1 Beta 2. If it fixes the frequent crashes I'm experiencing in with KDE2.0.1 Konqueror then Konqueror will be my default browser. Otherwise it's back to Netscape. I've tried Opera and don't think it's would be worth paying for.

Mozilla and Opera.
:)

Edited to say that I agree that Opera isn't worth purchasing, but it is pretty.

I use Netscape if I need to look at graphics or JavaScript and Java. Otherwise it's "links", which I think is much better than "lynx".

Netscape 4.76

With fonts tweaked, the additional useless menus removed (such as 'shopping') and text-only menus, it's a pretty good browser.

Tried Konqueror for a while, but it feels like it still needs work (had authentication problems with secure sites).

Opera seems very good, but too many features for me (I'm an application minimalist) and I couldn't get used to the bookmark implementation.

Haven't tried Mozilla yet, and I haven't used Links since I got DSL.

Posting from Mozilla 0.8, tend to use Netscape 4.76 more though.

Not too keen on Opera, it never remembered any of my settings nor did I like the qt 2.x based interface

My main disappointment is that I can't get the (Java?) sound applet to sound.

I have switched from Netscape to Mozilla mainly because of getting those stupid fonts working. But, I haven't got the chance to try and get Java working in Mozilla. Does anyone know of a link that will install Java for Mozilla?

Run mozilla as root, go to http://java.sun.com

click on the java link to the rightof the page and it will download and install java.

I also use BrowseX (http://browsex.com), Netscape 4.76, Galeon, and Konqueror.

Netscape is still a workhouse, and fairly fast if you renice it. Also helps if you renice X and your WM.

I've always only used the browser that came with the operating system. I don't think it's necessary to install another browser if the OS already comes with one that was already pretty powerful.

I would love to have a functional browser...I really would. Nutscrape 4.75 worked like a dream until I re-installed linux to reduce some of the bloat. Now I can't go 5 minutes without it crashing. Nutscrape 6 ain't bad, but it's a memory hog and I have some issues with the Gecko rendering engine.
Is it just me, or do most pages tend to look more...hrmmmm..."professional" under Windork? Anyone know of a browser similar to Internet Exploder but for linux and that won't bring your system crashing to the ground when you do something as trivial as press the "Back" button? I booted into Windork the other day to help step-by-step my gf's Windork problems over the phone, and page-beautification caught me by surprise...I guess I kinda miss that polished look.

Mozilla nightlies (I've been using .8 since it came out though).

In my opinion, Mozilla is the most like IE of all the Linux browsers.

For many recent builds (I'm not sure if it's fixed yet, and if I had to guess when it started, I'd say around February 10th), Java does not install correctly for Mozilla.
Here's the fix: Install Java through the GUI. Exit Mozilla. cd to the Mozilla dir. "cd plugins" "ln -s java2/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so ./"

Konqueror works great for me, except for some authentication problems. I'm thinking of just d/l KDE2.1beta because it sounds like they resolved lots of issues with KHTML.

mozilla and opera

why give AOL the pleasure of using Netscape when Mozilla is there?

I use Netscape 4.75 mostly because it's very fast on my system and handles authentication well for e-commerce sites. I also use Opera, and it is fast too (probably a little faster than Netscape).

Konqueror is excellent but a little buggy in my release of Mandrake (7.2), and Links is the console browser of choice for me if I want to be real quick :)

haven't tried Galeon or the latest Mozilla, but I have downloaded Netscape 6.0 for Windows and it is good!! Now all I've got to do is wait for it to be released on a CD for Linux, and I'm away :D

/me checks his pocket for his USD$0.02

Welp, I really like Internet Explorer 5.5, which I use all the time in Windows. I refuse to use anything else.

However, when using the OS of choice, I find myself using Netscape 4.76, which I hate. Moz and NS6 I have a few "issues" with that I am working out.
