Semi Newbie here and near virginal with linux...

I was noticing my Dual celeron RH6.2 box is dragging, I look into cpu utilization and I see both wailing at 98% each. The process was Lynx (the browser, right?) running ns.tar.gz, one instance for 13 hours and 1 for 26hrs. It looked like this...

...lynx 209.1.xxx.xx/t_pike66/ns.tar.gz

I'm not running that browser, any thoughts??

Well... (im biased now, but) change your processor, I prefer AMD. But Anything not labeled Celeron will do the trick

I wish that were the problem but it's not... The thing was that there was an outside connection being made to the box. X was off, no users logged in other than the web traffic to the server but this "...lynx 209.1.xxx.xx/t_pike66/ns.tar.gz" had 2 concurrent connections running on my box over port 80. I have a basic fw up with not much open. I whois'd thiat IP and it shows as one company but the numbers point to yahoo... Anyway, I don't know enough about the linux side of things but can someone attach in from outside (I'm assuming that .../t_pike is pointing to some file structure on somebody's machine) and that ns.tar.gz is some kind of app (dns?)... just trying to figure it out.

Thanks...
