I had a system where RH7 was booting on hda. I added a drive with a single partition and setup an custom version of linux (following linuxfromscratch.org). My problem now is that the lfs book does not mention ho to then use this drive as the primary drive in another system. As part of the setup lilo is setup so that using the boot info on the primary drive, boot the system setup on the sencond drive.

I have tried numerous things, and what it seems to me is that I prolly need to remove the lilo info on the second drive, make it the primary drive in the sys. From there boot up with a special floppy that will add a boot loader to that drive.

I have spent the last couple of days trying ideas, I you can help I would really appreciate it

You're probably right. Lilo installs to the master boot record. I looked through the options, but it doesn't have anything to specify the device. So try switching the drives and using a boot floppy then installing lilo on that drive as well.

You have to understand that I'm not very good with computers and so you may need to explain what you are saying again.

Basically as I read your comment as saying that:
1) You have one hardrive only.
2) That has two partitions and you want both bootable.

This is a common arangement for people sharing Linux and windows so is not too difficult to do. Why don't you post your /etc/lilo.conf and we can correct it. Also post your /etc/fstab

Or instead of that, what would happen if you just wrote a script to remount /. That way you could switch between the two systems easilly without rebooting.
