X 4.02 Screen Reselutions Stuck at 1280X1024

i need to know how to set up X screen Res.
in X 4.02 it only give me 1280X1024 i need a fall back of 640X480 and 1024X768 for quake3
to load and ideas i tried adding vidmodes to my XF86Config but it doenst work and i cant seem to find an optionb in XFRee86 -configure to set vid modes please help

Does it give you any error message? I'm a little confused by your question... do you have a Voodoo 3 and you want it to use your rage? Or do you only have the one video card and it keeps trying to use a Voodoo 3?

If you search at google.com for big snippits of your error message in quotes, you might find other people have had the same problem.

You should also upgrade to a more recent version of XFree86 if you can, since 4.0 has problems with DGA making the mouse unreliable in Q3.
