what to use for webserver security and logging?

I've got my linux box up and running now as a webserver...so I'm wondering what is the best (or most comprehensive) logging/security program could I use to monitor the activity coming into the box? I'm running Mandrake 9.1, but I want to be doubly sure that I'm secure. I'd really like to be more familiar with the precautions I should take.
