I finally got DVD's working in linux, using ogle. Unfortunatly, playback is not very smooth... Just barely too rough to be unwatchable. In most programs you can make performance/quality tradeoffs to get it to the point where it works, but it it dosn't appear I can do that here. There are no performance menus or anything... Is there any config file to change? I would be willing to sacrafice half the resoultion, even, to get it to work.

I do know that my DVD drive has dma enabled and is operating in 32 bit mode, so I don't think I can do anything there.

It is possible that my computer simply isn't fast enough... It is a Pentium II 266 with 96 megs of ram. However, it's video card has built in DVD decoder support, it's an mpact2dvd, integrated into the motherboard. I don't know how to tell if linux is using the DVD decoding abilites, but I do know it is using the video card because it is operating at resoultions it never could without it.

At least I think so... I just installed linux a couple weeks ago and don't know anything about it other than what is blatantly self-evident. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It seems like there would be any number of possible things to do... Updated decoders, enabling the hardware decoder, changing the settings on somthing, using a program besides ogle that is more efficient... But I don't know how.

You really want 350mhz or better but mplayer might just might be able to do it on your hardware.

I do warn you that it is a difficult program to compile.
