well, I compiled my first app from source last night and to my surprise it seemed to work. I first used apt-get to install xine. I then went to Captain CSS page and downloaded the plugin tarball and did the ./configure, make, make install thing and it seemed to work alright - at least it didn't give any errors.
I opened an eterm and typed in [B}xine[/B]. The application came up alright and I put my DVD in to the drive and then selected the DVD tab from the little xine control window. The DVD drive then started to spin. So I pushed the play button and nothing... I still saw the xine logo in the playback area. I looked back into the eterm that I used to launch xine and it didn't seem as though it was complaining about anything... the thing is when I did push the play button the drive started spinning and the busy light started flashing and my CPU monitor on gkrellm jumped to about 15% and pretty much stayed there. So it seems as though it's reading the dvd alright, I'm thinking that it's a css plugin issue?
Is this a symptom of a plugin that isn't working?? Does anyone have any suggestions??
