last week I tied a P2 400 Mhz box that I put RH 8.0 on into my tiny little home lan. I had to put it's monitor up high to make it all fit in here so for comforts sake I either ssh and/or vnc to the system while working on it. I do find it it nice to be able to glance up and see what is running via top. What I need to know is how to shutdown Bash's screensaver (blank screen).

I love answering my own questions. The proper command would be:

setterm -blank 0

see the man page for all the variables
