pc card modem

Hello,

I'm unning RH Linux 6.2(KDE) on my laptop,
Toshiba Satelite Pro 430CDT. I try to use
its graphic interface to setup PPP connection,
but it's not detecting modem. When I querry
modem it says:
"Modem is busy."
Does any of you know what is the problem?

"Modem is busy" usually comes from having it pointed to the wrong com port.
First make sure the computer is detecting the card at all... Does it give you two beeps when you hit the PCMCIA section during boot, or if you remove & put it back in while the system is up?
If not, get that working first, if so then it's probaby a configuration problem.
Probably just have the PPP settings pointing to TTYS1 when the modem is actually on TTYS2 or something like that....
At least that's what happened to me ;)
