What is the best (free) HTML editor for Linux?
I want at least some GUI support, don't want to type in all the tags. Something similar to Homesite for Win would be great.
THANKS

Try Quanta or Bluefish. They both work well, I mainly use bluefish. YOu can also do you editing with Star Office or Open Office.

I kinda sorta am really fond of my CoffeeCup, oh yeah there happens to be a software package by the same name that is pretty spiffy as well. Nice GUI, lots of support for everything you want to do but will never have the time.

errr I think that's what it is....
the webserver seems to be down....
Well, I didn't say they made webserver software so NO worries....
(really is a cool editor)
Cheers!
P.S. They have a lite version that is free, but the full version was only like $25.00 when I bought it (paid for itself with one small project too)

In my opinion, there is no comparison to homesite, in any OS.
hardcore homesite user since 2.5 :)
Quanta is pretty close, but it requires KDE 1, and i hate KDE
version 2 (with KDE 2 support), is still beta, although it should be fairly good when it gets a lot stabler, and more homesite-like

I'd like to use vim as well. But How can I make life easier with it?

Search the forums for "vi help" or "vi tips", and you will come up with tons of stuff. I also wrote an NHF (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/tools/customize_vim1.html) on customizing vim, but you should look through the other NHFs to get familiar with the basics first.

Is vim similar to vi? I'm actually pretty good with vi...
