A friend gave me a 486 to fool around with. I booted it up for a few days(with windows 95) and it worked fine. Slow, but fine. I downloaded Smoothwall today and when I booted the box, it gave me an error of "Keyboard failure, press F1 to continue" I made sure the keyboard was plugged in tight but still nothing. When I plugged another keyboard into the port, the error changed to "KB/Interface error" Me thinks my keyboard port is screwed, but I wanted to get a second opinon. Am I SOL? Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks

Howdy.
Does this keyboard have a little switch on the bottom labeled "XT-AT"?
If so, set it to "AT", as the XT uses a different scan protocol.
If not, then I'm at a loss...

Thanks for the reply, banzaikai. No switch, but now it booted just fine. Odd. oh well.
Thanks again!

No problemo...
Funny how those things work (don't work?) out.
They can't all be Amigas (you can plug/unplug keyboards all day long without losing anything).
