Please help

I just got out of boot camp and am at my A school. My computer is not here hey and I desperately need a free shell account because all the navy has for the "average" user is frickin' windows machines. Please help with my desperate cry for and online shell or server access.

AHHHHHHHHHHH

Because of abuse and because box owners can be held legally liable for the actions of anyone they give a shell account to, and because Linux and *BSD allow people to have UNIX boxes in their own homes, the number of shell providers has shrunk rapidly over the past few years. Those few that still exist are often heavily restricted and monitored, and often require you to provide real-world identity information in order to sign up, so that you can be held liable instead of the box owner if you do something illegal with the shell.

Google has a list of free shell providers that still exist. You should probably be able to find something to your liking among them:
http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Internet/Access_Providers/Unix_ Shell_Providers/Free_Shells/ (http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Internet/Access_Providers/Unix_Shell_Providers/Free_Shells/)

I don't know much about any of those services, so you'll have to check them out for yourself.

The best option, though, might be to find a wired friend and ask him for a shell. Although it's out of fashion to offer free shells to the public, most people will still do it for people they know.
