Anyone know if there is a free CD burning program out there for Windows that I can use to burn some installation discs?

Download one off Kazaa.

Let's just say... it's not free but you don't have to pay for it.

Only download the one that many people have, otherwise it could be a flase or virus.

If you want the best file sharing program... http://www.k-lite.tk it's crazy nice. No ads and enhanced! It's awesome.

Naaa, I'm not into the whole software piracy thing, and I'm not too big a fan of Kazaa. I finally dug up and installed a copy of Easy CD Creator, which I was extremely hesitant to do since I have it installed on another computer, and installing it on multiple computers is a violation of the license. I guess I just have too much of a conscience. I figured I'd uninstall it as soon as I was done, though, since as soon as I get Linux up and running I can burn all the CDs I want legally.

Lol, your cautious. Hey, but thats fine too ya know.

"A theif never has to worry about anything."

On the other hand, I've got tons of software you don't even want to know how much money it would add up to :D .

They're more after illegal versions rather than legitamte ones installed on 2 comps.

Not only is he cautious, but he's trying to stay within the confines of the Acceptable Use Policy (http://www.internet.com/corporate/privacy/aup.html). I suggest you do the same and not suggest warezing software anymore.

But to dave, I would suggest trying to look for some shareware or something along those lines. There may even be ports for GNU tools to work under Windows/DOS for CD burning. I'd check into those things anyways before trying to hit up Kazaa.

Besides, what happens when you try to download what you think is Easy CD creator, and it turns out to be a self extracting ZIP archive of some illegal adult material? Next thing you know, you'll be getting in trouble for trying to acquire illegal software, and for posessing illegal adult material. I've not been burned that bad, but back when I used to warez, I did download some trojans onto my test system I had set up specifically to blow away in case of virii and trojans.

Overcautious and paranoid man. Ok, I guess it was wrong suggesting warez/pirated software, but the man wanted help.

And you won't really have a problem if you download something that tons of users have. You also need some experience too. YOu need to be able to detect frauds.

For example, on files and movies, if the filename/description is in ALL UPPERCASE, stay away, 90% chance it screws comp up or it is not what is claimed, second, if on the file name like file.exe, if it has a long description and opens a parenthesis ( "(" ) and then doesn't close it, it is usually a fraud or a file messing up comp.

Those are just examples from my expertise from doing this for so long. I've got more but you all probably dont want to here them because I'm getting carried away to suggesting warez.

Yes. You were wrong. Stop suggesting warez techniques, it's not really cool here. Lucky either someone hasn't hit the "Report this post to a moderator", or a mod hasn't closed the post already, and slapped you on the wrist or something.

But, have you tried download.com.com? this search (http://download.com.com/3150-2646-0.html?tag=dir) I did there has some downloadable burners for Windows. Now, be aware I've not tried any, and most look like shareware/demo versions. But, alas, they are downloadable, as dave requested.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm finally in Mandrake Linux 9.1 now, thanks to Easy CD Creator (as mentioned above).

You could have downloaded the free demo version of Discjuggler to burn those ISOs. Even though the title says "demo", you can use it for an unlimited amount of time. It is a good program for free. The only thing is that you can only burn at 4x speed, unless you want the full version.

I think you can get a free trial of Nero, maybe not anymore though, haven't used in a while.

nero has a 30day demo, and is hands-down the best all-purpose burning program for windows.
