I nearly got that running last week, but the download went *poof* in its final moments :(

Is there an equivalent Live-CD for the x86 platform?

I did have a look on the UK mirror site but couldnt spot it.

Many thanks

Most certainly there is. x86 LiveCDs are ten a penny, mostly Knoppix knock-offs. They've been mostly x86-only because Knoppix is x86 and it's simpler to just customize Knoppix than to recompile everything for another architecture. Good to see that someone's finally done so, though :).

Anyway, check out Knoppix at http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html. There's also Morphix (http://morphix.sourceforge.net/modules/news/) which was one of the first Knoppix derivatives, but their latest version is pretty broken. As I say, there are tons of others, but Knoppix should do pretty much anything you need.

You got to it first!

This is neat news, but I'd think that anyone interested in such news would have already been checking out the LinuxPPC forum anyways...
