alien command

Hi All,

The 'alien' does not seem to work on my machine. I am trying to convert a non-RPM file to an RPM format file. All I get is:

"alien is not recognised" or something similar,

Any thoughts ?

Hi steve,

I think alien is used to convert various package formats.

from the alien man page:

"alien is a program that converts between Red Hat rpm, Debian deb, Stampede slp, Slackware tgz, and Solaris pkg file formats."

You can check out the man pages to learn how to build a .rpm I use debian so I can't help.

Is alien actually installed? It doesn't have to be...

If so, or if you don't know for sure, then what is the exact error that you're getting? Can you write it down (or copy and paste it)?
